Colourscape Performer & Workshop Leader
For over 20 yeas Michael Ormiston has performed traditional, experimental, contemporary, live electro-acoustic and improvisational music both as solo and with many musicians, performance artists and dancers including Hyperyak, Ansuman Biswas, Beibei Wang and many more.
He is the principal music & sound workshop leader for Colourscape working with people from the ages of 3 to 100!. This can be within the structurem in the open air or in schools.
Michael has had many years experience working with special needs children/adults and recently with elderly people with Dementia and Mental health issues.
In 2011 Michael was commissioned to create a Turku Harmonic Choir for the Colourscape Music Festival in Turku Finland as part of their European Capital of Culture year.
In 2008, Michael along with Candida and Eddy Sayer won the Colourscape commision for the Clapham Common festival. They composed and devised a unique event which explored the connection between music, space and colour within the Colourscape structure using Gongs, Tibetan Singing Bowls, Percussion, Overtone singing and live electronic processing.
