Chandman Concert Mongolia 2000

When Michael first visited Mongolia in 1993 he had been invited to perform his ‘anglii Khöömii’ at the sports arena. Unlike this year there had been no concert in the village hall.

Dorjoe was very keen for Michael to perform which caused a bit of an issue. Khöömiich Tsengedorj had arrived to Khöömiilokh and his presence and influence persuaded the organisers to allow Michael to perform.

It was a jamboree performance for all ages and abilities. Some sang with live instrumental backing and others with recorded sounds. Popular, traditional, short and longs songs plus Khöömii and some Bii dance. Michael performed some tradition Mongolian melodies in Khöömii. There was one microphone, unless it was close to the singer, the sound was lost in the chattering crowd nosies. Tserendavaa was one of the main performers and coached some of the Khöömiich on the side of stage. He was keen to promote his son Tsogtgerel.
