Ulaanbaatar Mongolia 2000

We stayed in a flat in UB so could do our own cooking as Candida was a vegetarian. Michael caught up with members of Tumen Ekh and also recorded a TV appearance on Tsovoo’s Erel TV.

We visited Khöömiich Ganbold who was in a bad condition being drunk which was extremely difficult for Candida.

We visited the ruins of Manjursri Buddhist Monastery which is just outside UB. It was destroyed by the communist regime in 1937 and is now a tourist spot.

We were guests of Khamba Lam Choijampts the head Abbot go Ganden Monastery. It was good to catch up with him.

Sue Bryne (Buddhism in Mongolia as part of Tibetan Foundation) was in town and some her of wonderful photos were part of the first exhibition of Purevbat lams work as the Director of the Mongolian Institute of Buddhist Art. I was asked to perform my Khöömii much to the amazement of the dignities there.
