17th August to 17th October 1993 Chandman Sum page7
At last we
arrived at Tserendavaa’s Ail (encampment). I was still not well and had to rest
for a while. His Ail of three gers was set up about 4Km from Chandman Village
which I could see in the distance. This was one of his summer camps, a small
stream was near by and a few others Ails were strewn along it. In the distance
was the Jargalant Altai with its Monkh Tsas (Eternal snows) and the eternal
blues sky. Tserendavaa was head of extended family consisting of his wife
TsagaanTsogt, her mother, one of Tserendavaa’s brothers with his wife and new
born child. There were many children, I counted about seven of Tserendavaa’s!
The ger was pretty basic, but Buriad and I were welcomed in and treated very
hospitably. I needed to rest a while and started recovery from the ordeal of
the journey from Khovd to Chandman. Tserendavaa and his wife treated me for my
shummuul bites with distilled fermented horses milk.
